It’s no secret that Nate’s Swap and Shop is the ultimate weekend spot to find everything under the sun, but it’s also turned into a second home for many! Big Mark has done just that – living at the Lake of the Ozarks during the week, and making his way back to be the Director of Operations of Nate’s Swap and Shop every weekend – Big Mark has made Kansas City’s largest outdoor flea market his home away from home!
He’s worked at Nate’s since 2001. “This place just gets in your blood,” said Mark. “The comaradery, the people here, and the friendships – it’s priceless.”
Having taught school in Kansas City for years, Big Mark has enjoyed running into his students at Nate’s. “It’s great to be able to see them grow up,” said Big Mark. “Everyone knows they can count on me to be here.”
When asked about his favorite memory working at Nate’s, it’s of course helping out customers lookingfor bargains. “Families will be out looking for deals, and their little ones will get anxious sometimes,” said Big Mark. “I’ll let the kids ride around on the golf cart with me, they have a blast and the parents have time to check out all the booths!”
Big Mark enjoys making his way to Nate’s Swap and Shop every weekend. “This place is just like the motto, ‘everything under the sun,’ he said. “You don’t have a clue about what you’ll find, that’s the best part about Nate’s.”
At 6’7” and 300 pounds, most people call him the “Gentle Giant,” just don’t make him mad! Be sure to say hi to him next time you’re at Nate’s Swap and Shop!
